Scrying Vanity, turns the piece onto the viewer to consider their thoughts of their own body. It is a multi-media installation that encompasses the viewer in darkness and confronts them with mirrors and lights. It is also an adapted form of “scrying”, an ancient art and practice using suitable mediums to reveal and uncover messages or visions. The viewer is invited to step into this space and is posed with introspective questions about themselves by a whispering voice. The viewer breaks the fourth wall and is instructed to stare into their reflection in the brightly lit mirrors, putting them in an entranced state of mind to evoke curiosity and uncover truths about their own psychological and emotional perspectives of their body.
